The proper use and handling of firearms is taught at every opportunity at our club. Shooters, whether they be rank novices, or seasoned shooters of many years experience, must always observe the rules and safety standards as set out by this club and the national administrative body, the "Australian Clay Target Association".
The police through the "Weapons Act" of 1990, (amended 1991) enforce this Act. The act sets out what is required in both weapon handling and security as well as the safe storage of all firearms.
Toowoomba Clay Target Club Incorporated in its day to day operation, complies rigidly with these laws and through club officers enforces all aspect of this Act.
Therefore all members, visiting shooters and spectators may rest assured that their safety whilst at the club is assured.
Naturally to be able to maintain this level of safety, the club needs the co-operation of all who come onto the club's grounds and in particular, visit the shooting layouts for the purpose practice and competition.
In line with this level of safety,
the club has purchased the very latest technology and installed automatic hopper fed traps, remote voice release controls to release the target, and token machines which allows members and visitors to practice more often.
Security at the club has recently been increased too with Steel bars on windows and doors and the installation of a heavy duty firearm storage safe. This safe is located and installed according the the "Weapons Act".
