In DTL trap there are usually 6 competitors in each squad. Five of these occupy the five tracks and each one stands on the common mark. The common mark for standard events being fifteen metres, that is, 15mts from the throwing trap. The sixth competitor stands on track one with number one shooter standing behind him/her. Normally the squad has a clearing shot (eye opener) each, so after number six has fired, competitor number one occupies track one. The sixth competitor moving to a position behind number one allowing number one to move forward onto the track . (after number six fires) Subsequent targets are attempted with number one competitor on number one track, number two on number two track and so on. Once a competitor is satisfied that he/she is ready, they call for their target. There is no particular call, any voice sound will be picked up by the microphone and the target released. Where upon it leaves the trap house traveling at 40kph away from you in any direction between 22 deg. left and22 deg right. (see Diagram). An arc of 44 deg. The competitor will hold the shotgun aimed at the front edge of the trap house and on seeing the target rising, track it with the shotgun, pulling the trigger when the barrels almost reach the target. The target will shatter and the referee will call "one" Having broken or missed their target, each competitor moves to their right onto the next pad, continuing in this way until 25 targets have been released and attempted, for all members of the squad. This is called a "round"
